Manila Foodshoppe :)

Manila Foodshoppe is a family favorite! Why? Well, Aside from the very tasty dishes, it is also very affordable. It was 2004 when I transferred from Manila to Cebu, though I am a pure Cebuana, my 24 years of existence was mostly spent in Manila. When I got here,I was very eager to taste Cebuano dishes, So many that I missed over the years. My Dad is also a foodie, aside from the fact`that he cooks so well, he also is a good food critic. One day we were planning where to have dinner after hearing the Sunday Mass, I heard dad  was talking about this dish called "MAKI", I thought He was referring to a Japanese California Maki, but unfortunately it was something else.So since I was clueless they deecided to take me to  Manila Foodshoppe so I can have a taste of this "MAKI" that they were talking about. So to feel the authenticity of this resto we opted to dine in their original branch which is in downtown, Manalili St. When I checked their menu, honestly I was surprised with the cheap prizes. So right away, we ordered for a dish called MAKI.
MAKI
The thick sauce made this dish unforgettable,I found it weird at first because i thought you have to pair it with rice to neutralize the strong taste, But after my first spoonful, the taste was different as what i thought, you can indeed eat it alone coz the taste is just right! I  can't remember the exact price but I know it was more or less P50.00. The four of us shared on this, just enough to awaken our taste palates.

Then came the main course.. We had shanghai fried rice, they already knew that 1 plateful is not enough so right away they ordered for 2 shanghai fried rice. It did not disappoint me in anyway, it was delicious! To pair that we ordered for battered chicken, 1 order consisted 12 pieces of chicken which tasted really good, it was garlicky and buttery in flavor. Another order was the honey pork spare-ribs, this one I did not enjoy so much. I think it was all of us who didn't enjoy this, it was because of the pork that was overcooked that it was like you're chewing some sort of a rubber? And the taste itself was not at all outstanding.

To satisfy my sweet tooth, I had to order Leche flan. The serving was so small but the taste was perfect!

Overall I think Manila Foodshoppe was worth the try. After that first time, I have had several trips to this place... Simple ambiance and menu but definitely offers good value for money. Rating: 96%
